CCCA Celebrates Chinese Culture at New Castle Community Day 2026

The Chappaqua Chinese Cultural Association (CCCA) was proud to participate in New Castle Community Day 2026, bringing Chinese culture, community connection, and hands-on experiences to families and neighbors throughout Chappaqua and the surrounding area.

Under the CCCA tent, visitors of all ages were invited to experience different elements of traditional Chinese culture. Throughout the day, families stopped by to explore Chinese calligraphy and seal art, traditional wooden puzzles and games, cultural crafts, and lion dance traditions.

One of the most exciting moments of the day was the lion dance demonstration and interactive experience. The colorful lions quickly drew the attention of children and families, creating a lively gathering around the CCCA booth. Visitors were able to see the lion up close, learn more about this traditional performing art, and take photos together.

Our calligraphy table was another popular stop. Children, teenagers, and adults gathered around to watch Chinese characters being written, discover their meanings, and experience the beauty of Chinese writing firsthand. Traditional wooden puzzles also encouraged families to slow down, play together, and learn through hands-on exploration.

More than simply introducing individual cultural traditions, Community Day gave CCCA an opportunity to meet neighbors, reconnect with familiar faces, and introduce our organization to many new families. We were delighted to speak with community members, local representatives, parents, students, and young people throughout the day and to share more about CCCA’s upcoming programs, membership, volunteer opportunities, and cultural events.

The day would not have been possible without our wonderful team of adult and youth volunteers.

From early-morning setup and decorating the booth to welcoming visitors, demonstrating activities, explaining Chinese culture, assisting children, photographing the event, and packing everything away at the end of the day, our volunteers brought tremendous energy and teamwork to every part of the event.

We were especially happy to see young volunteers taking an active role in sharing culture with their peers and younger children. Creating opportunities for the next generation to participate, volunteer, and feel connected to their cultural heritage is an important part of CCCA’s work.

Culture Creates Connection

For CCCA, events like Community Day are about more than presenting Chinese traditions. They are about creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet, learn from one another, and build genuine connections within our community.

Seeing families gather around the calligraphy table, children playing with traditional puzzles, visitors smiling beside the lions, and neighbors stopping to have conversations reminded us why these community events are so meaningful.
